Escher - Boomka Boomka [SC:Digital 007]

SC:Digital 007

It is been a long time since the last release of UK netlabel SC:Digital. But eventually it’s here: a two track release by Escher. And once again SC:Digital don’t disappoint.

Boomka Boomka (what a strange name) starts with metallic sounding drums which are accompanied by some more industrial elements later on. The label calls it a “militant and moody stepper”. Indeed it is. All in all an unusual sounding track in today’s drum and bass and actually quite refreshing.

Hi Tek is more rolling and slightly mellower than Boomka Boomka. Though this track also doesn’t follow trends within the genre. The pads could be off a Detroit techno tune and give it a spaced out mood which is strengthened by the female vocals later in the track.

The release can be downloaded for free (after a short and painless registration) from the label’s website.
