Eventually a new release on veteran netlabel Autoplate. This time it is a ten track release by German duo Fern.
And once again Autoplate don’t disappoint with this release. Just too often ambient releases tend to be boring and non-adventurous because producers trust too much on proven and tested sounds. Thus many releases sound identical.
Fern are more original and different. The bass parts in some of the tracks like in Nachtschattenweg remind me of 70s fusion bands like Weather Report or some ECM releases. Though Fern don’t copy, rather they let the deep and warm bass contrast the sounds of waves hitting the shore like on the fourth track Sie Kamen Und…While you can easily listen to the individual tracks I recommend listening to the whole release in one session. You can better experience the beauty of the sounds and its character as a self-contained musical story.
Autoplate is the sister label to Thinner and concentrates on more ambient and downtempo sounds. All tracks encoded with 192 kbps and Creative Commons licensed.
