Aidan Baker – Peau Sensible [Zenapolae 21]

This is the first release I have downloaded from Zenapolae or more accurately their netaudio project BitPhitz. Zenapolae is a New Jersey based label concentrating mostly on ambient sounds.
Aidan Baker is a Canadian producer I have never heard about before, although according to Discogs he has more than 40 releases out already.

Anyway, this release features four tracks of ambient soundscapes, bordering on drone sometimes. Immediately noticeable is Baker’s occasional use of guitar and flute sounds in the rather long tracks (13-14 minutes each) and the different moods of the individual tracks. While Circumference of Skin builds up to a stirring and eerie track, the final track, Dermal, soothes the disturbence created by its predecessor and ends an excellent release.
