Tracking all the interesting news and information of today’s fast moving world is a hard job. Luckily there are meme trackers like Megite, Techmeme and Tailrank which keep you up to date with the latest news on various topics, mostly technology themes. Their main resource are blogs. For example Tailrank currently monitor more than 150,000 blogs. However the results of monitoring are not processed for later reference. Those trackers just show users what’s hot right now but not if it was over a certain period of time.
This gap is filled by BuzzFeed now which has been mentioned on BuzzShout today. The basic work is also done by crawlers that monitor more than 50,000 blogs, news resources and other websites. Though the results are processed by an editorial staff and the most interesting stories and news are further tracked and eventually published on the site.
