Liberated Films

Liberated FilmsLiberated Films is a new film site dedicated to independent films. The site just launched two days ago but there are already 43 films up on the site at the moment.

In contrast to video sharing sites like YouTube not every submitted film will be featured on the site. If a film is submitted it has to be approved by a panel of film specialists. Also according to the FAQ Liberated Films won’t feature videos. So this is a step in the right direction to ensure quality films being featured and crap left out. Though it also means that you won’t find new films every other minute.

If you register you have the usual stuff: a profile page, leaving comments, notify friends about cool films by email, links to bookmarking sites like del.icio.us,… You can also get an upgraded account starting from $4.99 for a one month subscription to $21.99 for a six month subscription. By subscribing you won’t see adds, have access to hi-resolution films and also to new releases.

The aim of Liberated Films is providing an outlet for independent film makers and film fans outside the realm of the usual film festivals. Also they want to donate some of their after-tax profits to non-profit organisations. Hopefully they will be profitable soon. Anyway, very cool.

Fortunately I have read about this site on Mashable.
