Solid Earth - Grounded
24. November 2006 – 00:05 by
This is a compilation CD by Manchester, UK based collective Solid Earth who organise events for various causes. This CD was released to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontieres‘ work in Darfur, a region in Sudan where people are displaced, intimidated and killed by Sudan government backed militias. If you want to read more on the conflict have a look at the Wikipedia article or directly on the Médecins Sans Frontieres site.
However you should not buy this CD for its good cause alone. It features 19 tracks of many well known artists like Black Dog and Vex’d (under their Urizen alias) and some more unknown but very talented artists. The CD covers a broad spectrum of music, from hip hop to dubstep and d&b, to some more acoustic tracks.
This is really an enjoyable CD which won’t disappoint many people. Although it was released in May already you can still get it directly from the Solid Earth website, where you can also listen to clips of the tracks. The CD is just £6 plus postage, £5 go directly to Médecins Sans Frontieres. Postage rates are £1.50 UK and £3.50 worldwide.
