Kenneth Kirschner - November.2006 [Rope Swing Cities 11]

4. December 2006 – 23:39 by Carsten Pötter

Kenneth Kirschner - November.2006This new release by Kenneth Kirschner on US netlabel Rope Swing Cities is rather difficult to describe because the four featured tracks are very diverse and seem to belong to at least three different releases. However after listening repeatedly to them it makes absolutely sense to release them together.

Two very long percussive tracks dominate this release. Both tracks are very rhythmic, almost tribal sounding, though not completely stripped down to their skeletons. Kirschner adds some ambient and haunting atmospherics for which he is better known for. More meaty sounding tracks are the result and make them even danceable.

A short and very beautiful piano tune works as a bridge between the percussive tunes and contrasts them perfectly. Time to reflect the previous tune and concentrate on the next one.

Dark, droning and cold soundscapes end this fascinating release which offers a wide variety of sounds, rhythms and moods. Very impressive.
