After releasing a widget a few weeks ago 30 Boxes have published a handy WordPress plugin. The basic functions of the plugin are known from the widget already.
Visitors to your blog can scroll through your blog archives by using a calendar which shows all blog articles by date and time. If articles feature an image the image is shown on the calendar. However I think the images look rather nasty on the calendar, at least on my blog. This is probably due to the low resolution of the images I use. But if you don’t use many images it looks really good. You can also add two other feeds, Flickr links,… to the calendar if you want to.
So how does it work? At the end of each article you see a View Blog Timeline link. Just click it and after a short or sometimes even longer time you will see my blog articles on the calendar. Click a date and you will see the time the article was posted and the permalink of the article.
I think this is a very innovative way to browse blog archives. Though in order to maintain a manageable load time I have limited the calendar view to 30 articles. Also it is not recommended for dial-up users.
