7. December 2006 – 00:49 byYesterday Robert Basic mentioned Danah Boyd’s in depth article on friends and friending on social networking sites, especially on Friendster and on MySpace. Danah Boyd is a doctoral candidate at UC Berkeley who has written several articles on the subject already. She elaborates that friends and friendship have a different meaning on social networks and that they cannot be equated with the real world. Some good reading.
