Friends on Social Networking Sites

Yesterday Robert Basic mentioned Danah Boyd’s in depth article on friends and friending on social networking sites, especially on Friendster and on MySpace. Danah Boyd is a doctoral candidate at UC Berkeley who has written several articles on the subject already. She elaborates that friends and friendship have a different meaning on social networks and that they cannot be equated with the real world. Some good reading.
