Update: ReverbNation
18. December 2006 – 08:00 bySince the official launch of the site on October 31 ReverbNation has grown and got more diverse musically. While indie and alternative rock are still the dominating genres other genres can be found as well.
There is an intersting new feature called Tunepak. Both fans and artists can create an email with individual songs or complete playlists they like or they want to feature. The email contains the artists’ names and song titles as well as a link to the playlist.
Sounds not innovative at all? Well, I think it is. Just have a look at the possibilities the ReverbNation folks have listed on the Tunepak site. With just a single weblink artists can link to their music and fans to music of their favourite artists. It is suitable for venues as well.
Other changes were made by the website designers it seems. Nothing dramatically, though. The player looks better, tidier. Also the search bar is better integrated and there is a direct jump to genres now. At least I think it was not there when I had a look at the site in October.
That is strange, by the way. I have visited the site regularly though did not pay attention to details of the design and if or when things changed. Embarrassing!
Anyway, have a look at the site if you haven’t already. It is cool, it is about music. Nothing else.
Edit: I have been notified by Jed Carlson of ReverbNation today that the Tunepak feature will be extended in the near future. There will be more options than the email one with the link. He mentioned a Tunepak player that can be embedded into websites and blogs. I am really looking forward to it.
Edit 2 (Dec 22): Wow, that has been fast. There is a widget music player now. Just have a look at my MySpace site to get an idea how it works. I love it.
