Emil Klotzsch & Rainer Sudermann - Holzlaub [Autoplate 042]

9. January 2007 – 00:32 by Carsten Pötter

Klotzsch + SudermannThis is the first release on Autoplate in 2007 and once again it is a demonstration of the label’s keen sense of almost timeless music.

Emil Klotzsch, some of you may remember him from his recent release on Canadian netlabel One, teams up with netlabel novice Rainer Sudermann for a wonderful calm release.
Sudermann improvised sketches on acoustic guitar which were recorded and subsequently manipulated on PowerBooks by both artists. Those sounds and samples were arranged for the five tracks of this release. If you want to know more about this process read the release notes. Very interesting.

Though what sounds like a complicated process of creation is not resulting in any abstract or far out music. The warm sounds of the acoustic guitar are building the foundation for a rather accessible kind of music. While the samples were processed by computers all tracks are very natural sounding. The tracks might even appeal to people who are not necessarily into electronic music.

A great relaxing release which fits just right into this foggy, rainy, and simply too warm winter of Central Europe.
