Kolumkilli - The Evening Earth [Panospria 22]

This is the latest release on Canadian netlabel Panospria, though already released in September. It is the first time I ever downloaded a release from this label. Panospria is contributing quality releases to the netlabel scene since early 2004, and while it has been on my radar for quite some time already I never got around to listen to any of its releases. I have to catch up, it seems.
This release consists of three long tracks by Kolumkilli, a Canadian producer who has been unknown to me so far. All three tracks are rather deep, wafting, and droning (yes, I use this word quite often as a description but it fits perfectly here) pieces of Ambient perfection.
Maybe this sounds ludicrous to some of you but the tracks remind me of church music with an organ played on an abandoned fabric floor, tubes all around, reverb and sometimes tinny. Great release.

Kolumkilli also has three excellent releases on Brise-Cul and Pasalymany Tapes.

Also of note is this live recording of his collaboration with Aidan Baker at the Mutek Festival in 2006.

Thanks for referring the live recording. I like Aidan Baker a lot, so I will certainly check it out.
