Nic Bommarito – Taciturn [12 Rec 037]

While there are countless labels in the netaudio scene the majority is promoting all kinds of electronic music. Though if you are not into electronic music you have to dig a little deeper to discover decent labels and releases. One of those labels is German 12 Rec, which has released some quality music since its launch in 2004.

Catalogue number 37 features US producer Nic Bommarito who is living in Lhasa, Tibet now. Post Rock is probably a good description of the eight instrumental tracks of his Taciturn LP (approximately 45 minutes). Very calm music with influences from Folk Rock, maybe even Alternative Country as the label info suggests, to Indie Rock. Simply undogmatic music which evokes a great variety of moods and feelings. Never boring or repetitive. I have listened to the LP just twice yet but I am already hooked.
