Choenyi - Defervescence [Yuki Yaki 009]

ChoenyiThis release by Choenyi on Berlin netlabel Yuki Yaki is a premiere in all respects for me. It is the first release I have ever downloaded from the Yuki Yaki site and also the first release by US producer Choenyi.

On this six track EP Choenyi’s music alternates between cold and rather minimal dancefloor compatible tracks like the opener Doma Fourth, dubby excursions on Pollen, and even more experimental sounds on Taurean Storm.

Maybe the description sounds like as Defervescence was a random collection of tracks, but I think everything falls into place and is even homogeneous. The minimal tracks are not completely stripped down to typical and boring minimal techno patterns, the dubby elements don’t end in reverb and delay orgies, and experimental sounds complement the tracks instead of being disruptive.

As a bonus you’ll get four remixes by people like David Carew and Argentinian producer Nicolas Aguero who already had releases on Sinergy and Tropic under his alias Sumergido.

Worth downloading if you are into minimal techno with an edge.
