OpenID: Now with AOL Support

15. February 2007 – 23:48 by Carsten Pötter

openidSometimes news come in faster than expected. Just a few hours after my little round up on OpenID and microformats AOL officially announced that it supports OpenID now.

That’s big news as all AOL and AOL Instant Messenger users have an OpenID now, in the form of openid.aol.com/screenname. Admittedly, that’s a great step by the AOL folks. As Fred Stutzman points out that’s more than 63 million new OpenID users. Excellent!
