Ziki Supports OpenID

12. March 2007 – 22:51 by Carsten Pötter

Profile aggregator Ziki has tacitly added support for OpenID it seems. At least I have not been aware of this when I registered with it and wrote about it for the first time.

Unlike WordPress and other services which recently have started supporting OpenID Ziki is both a provider and a consumer. I have succesfully associated my own blog URI with Ziki and also verified the Ziki OpenID (http://my.ziki.com/username) on claimID. So my list of OpenID’s is still growing; I have ten now. ;)

Update: It seems like I have to write updates to each blog post now. ;) Just a few minutes ago there has been Ziki’s announcement popping up in Google Reader.

  4. However, it does not appear to be OpenID 2.0 enabled..

Two Clues: the distinct visual login screen is not provided and the actual login using an XRI does not work :(

  5. You are probably right. I have to admit that I don’t know much about the protocols, though. I use and write about OpenID as a user but understanding the technical basics of the protocol is on my to-do list. :)
