A new release on Kreislauf which is quickly becoming one of my favourite netlabels. This time it is a three track EP by metaFame.
The first track - Confoundhalf-Pint - is a breabeat driven atmospheric piece of art. Don’t expect a Drum and Bass track, though. At first dark and reduced sounds oscillate between the speakers; I almost expected an Ambient track. Though later on metaFame adds some breakbeats to the sounds and suddenly we see the track in IDM territory.
Ec-nomy, the second track, is a more minimal affair. However it’s not Minimal Techno as you probably expect when reading the word minimal; it is way slower, more downtempo and also very atmospheric.
The EP is closing with Quaverracket, which is almost a combination of its two predecessors. Beats dropping softly in the background, accompanied by layers of warm sounds.
Sooner is a very impressive EP. It’s a little bit dark, though over-all very atmospheric and enjoyable. However the cover artwork is misleading. Sun and beach, at least I have expected a more upbeat and “happier” release. Don’t judge a book by its cover it seems.
