Once again a very strong release by Juno6, this time on the very prolific 1 Bit Wonder label. Loyal readers will remember that I have reviewed a Juno6 release in January already.
While the aforementioned release featured some great Electro tunes Juno6 delivers six wonderful downtempo tunes this time. Warm atmospherics, subtle rhythms, sometimes branching out into Electronica and IDM territory but always keeping a deep sound. His tunes often remind me of remixes on Sensorama’s - Zu Gast Auf Der Welcome Insel, especially the Plaid remix of Zone 30 comes to mind. Though don’t be afraid, no copycat here, just some great tunes.
Glander is a new name to me, although he is releasing music since the end of the 90’s. This release is on Germany’s Yuki Yaki label.
Anyway, here we have four very long tracks plus a shorter first track featuring some dubby, hypnotic, and haunting Techno, even some Ambient sounds which add some more atmospherics to the sound. Is it wrong to mention Basic Channel here? Maybe it is the typical reaction when listening to this kind of music. Though Glander’s music is discrete enough to make me happy and enjoy it.
The last recommendation for today, Tails on Kreislauf. As a music lover you can always count on Kreislauf’s excellent taste in music, however a very broad one.
The nine tracks of this album can easily be categorised as Minimal Techno, though be warned: It’s fun and funky. Tails plays with listeners expectations of what Minimal Techno should sound like. Many twists and turns keep things interesting and enjoyable, not one minute of boredom. Not for purists though, everyone else download it, please.
