A couple of days ago I have mentioned MyBlogLog’s possible support for OpenID. As it seems now the service will be updated even more; see David Dalka’s article. Those updates include:
1) The biggest news is that there will be a rebranding of MyBlogLog. The exact timing and new brand were not revealed. (YahooBlogLog or MyYahooLog? Time will tell.)
2) A complete site redesign is on the way!
3) A new “Widget 2.0″ is coming with some hover features.
4) Yahoo! is hard at work to remove the offensive photos so that MyBlogLog would be palatable to more conservative business blogs.
5) Some sort of method to turn off your presence for some types of sites will be added.
These are some welcome changes for many users. I am especially looking forward to the new widget. The old one has caused (and probably still does) problems sometimes, from being unavailable to slowing down blogs. So I hope it won’t be just different and offering new features but it will be more stable and reliable. Turning off presence on some sites will be appreciated here. I just don’t want everybody to see my face on their blog.
Hopefully Yahoo will push MyBlogLog in the right direction because there is some competition from Explode and BlogCatalog, both offering similar widgets as MyBlogLog; even Technorati could be a competitor with its recently updated profile pages.
