Get off the Net
25. May 2007 – 15:06 byWell, I should get off the internet. Last evening and night my ISP seemed to have some bigger problems and I was unable to establish a solid connection to the internet (about 30 minutes was the longest lasting one, IIRC). Connecting, disconnecting, every few minutes the same procedure until midnight; then I couldn’t connect at all anymore. A pretty frustrating experience; unread emails and lots of new feed items to check.
Though that drama made me realise how much I am dependent on the internet. I don’t even want to imagine what it’s like being unable to connect for several days. My calendar is on the net, my to-do list, addresses of friends and much more. I need the internet badly!
Oddly enough, I actually have both an address book and a calendar right here on my desk. I just should maintain them, I guess. Maybe I have to read some sites on GTD and organising my work and desktop more efficiently in general. Time to read about it. On the internet.

Probably an UMTS handheld could serve as a backup

Yes, it can. Good idea, especially as I want to buy a new phone anyway.
P.S. I have just used your MBL profile to illustrate my new blog post. You shouldn’t have commented here.
