Anonymous OpenID?

While searching Google for something completely different today – makes me wonder if I actually know how to use a search engine, btw – I have stumbled across an OpenID server at www.jkg.in/openid/ which is providing anonymous and disposable OpenID’s. I have not been aware of this server yet and I am not sure what to really think about it.

There is no authentication, so everyone else can use the OpenID I use. The doors for spammers are open, aren’t they? Or is it a much needed reminder that an OpenID should not be trusted without verification as Simon Willison noted? I can’t even think say where a disposable OpenID could be useful.

I am curious if and how that service will be used. If spammers will use it often most websites will probably blacklist the entire jkg.in domain, I guess.

Yes, that's one possible use case. Though in case of bugmenot websites don't know that user names and passwords were provided by bugmenot; if anyone is using a jkg.in OpenID they know and the domain can be blacklisted.
  • It'll be useful for sites that require registration in order to view content - the same sites that www.bugmenot.com is used to work around at the moment.
