It’s no secret that Australian Remember The Milk (RTM) is my favourite online task manager, although Todoist is a close second. Today RTM has become even more useful: users can add tasks via Twitter. If you know RTM already you won’t be surprised that it works really well.
Preconditions
Well, actually there are not many. First two rather obvious preconditions: you need both a RTM and a Twitter account. You guessed that, right?
So what’s next?
- Tell RTM your Twitter username: go to Services -> RTM for Twitter or simply click this link. You will get a code which you should jot down on a piece of paper or just leave the tab in your browser open.
- Go to Twitter and add RTM as your friend.
- Send a direct message to RTM with the generated code from step 1.
- Congrats, you’re done.
Messages
Now you can easily communicate with RTM via Twitter. All commands you are able to use are provided on the Twitter services page of RTM. In the example below I have added a task – sending a fax at 5pm – for tomorrow.

As you can see it’s really simple and not different from adding tasks directly in RTM. Say you want to know which tasks are due tomorrow just add the !tom command and you will receive the information as a Twitter message.

It’s simple, it’s cool. One more useful feature for Remember The Milk.
