Segue - Synesthesia [Autoplate 045]

apl045cover Thinner’s sister label Autoplate is a long time favourite here at NSR HQ. While I am not digging every release I don’t remember any mediocre one; it all boils down to personal taste, I guess. But you can bet that there is always a good choice of artists and music that’s way above average.

This is Segue’s second release for Autoplate after the critically acclaimed Forest Refractions album from last year. Segue is Canadian producer Jordan Sauer who is also involved with the Duck Bay netlabel. Forest Refractions could be filed under Ambient and featured some very beautiful melodies and sounds; a very relaxing and enjoyable release.

Synesthesia is quite different and heavily influenced by Dub. Actually tracks like Dready and Arctic Air Dub lean more towards the Reggae side of the musical spectrum than to Dub influenced Techno people would expect from Autoplate’s parent label Thinner. Rhythm & Sound could be compared to those tracks but I think Segue’s music is discrete and doesn’t need any comparison.

Great music!
