Today Spread OpenID has been launched. The aim of the project is providing endusers with a comparison of OpenID providers. So far there isn’t a site or overview available which gives detailed information about providers and their features. Well, at least as far as I know.
Often people who are new to OpenID don’t know where to start and how to find a provider. Sometimes they just choose the first one they come across. Though I think they should know the provider’s (security) features. Hopefully Spread OpenID will be some kind of help to them in this regards. However we - Thomas Huhn and I run that project - don’t want to recommend a provider but encourage users to make a decision on their own.
So far the list features just a small number of providers. Though this doesn’t imply that there are no other providers or that other providers are not worth checking out. I am sure that the list will grow over time.
Have a look at Spread OpenID and tell us what you think.
