YourMinis Acquired by AOL
6. February 2008 – 22:51 byWow, totally missed this. AOL has acquired Goowy and therefore also YourMinis. While I never had a look at Goowy’s webtop application - some kind of web OS - I really like YourMinis.
YourMinis provides a startpage similar to Netvibes and Pageflakes, but widgets have become even more important over time. They can be easily copied and embedded on every site - also on desktops - users like. The company offered this feature at a rather early stage in January 2007 already and has been really innovative in the startpage market, I think. However it never gained the same popularity as Netvibes and Pageflakes which is a pity. So an acquisition is probably the best that could happen to the company.
Though I am not sure how YourMinis will evolve being with AOL now. The focus will probably be on advertisement; widgets are some good vehicles for it.
