Validity of the Blog

In the category Stupid things to do on a rainy Saturday afternoon I ran the frontpage of this blog through the W3C Validator. Don’t ask me why I did that. I don’t have an answer myself, but somehow I expected the blog to validate. What a bold assumption! Of course, it didn’t validate. And there were not just one or two errors. No, 22 errors!

What to do now? I don’t know much HTML or even XHTML. Fortunately the validator provides some explanations, though they are not always easy to understand. Anyway, after reading about ampersands and entities, missing elements and already defined id’s I have managed to solve all problems. So at least the frontpage is valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional now. Yeah! I am so proud of myself. ;)

Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional

Unfortunately, there is also a CSS Validator which is showing four errors. Maybe I’ll take care of them next week. Time to watch football now.
