New Feed for Shared Items
21. April 2008 – 07:18 byWhen I started using Google Reader I also made use of its sharing items feature. Simply marking posts that could be interesting to other people as well and making it available as a feed seemed to be a good idea. And actually, it’s still a good one. However I have neglected that feature recently and currently there are no new items added to that feed.
Well, some of you might remember that I am quite impressed with FeedDemon and I am using it as my main feed reader for a while now. It’s great! I read the most important feeds (about 160) in FeedDemon now, while Google Reader works as a repository and includes even more feeds.
But back to shared items. FeedDemon’s Clippings feature can be used for that purpose as well. So why not start again and create a new feed for shared items? Well, here it is: FeedDemon Shared Items Update: I ran the feed through FeedBurner, so people don’t have to change the feed if I switch services again.
I promise to update it more regularly than the old Google feed. I’ll add everything I find interesting or amusing while reading feeds. So it will cover more stuff than I add to my bookmarks collection on Ma.gnolia. If you have subscribed to the Google feed before, please change your subscription now.

BTW, I think using FeedBurner for your shared items feed is a good idea - I do this myself.

Actually, I saw your post about clippings today. Coincidence, I guess.

By the way, its a nice idea… but can you give me a little hint where I can find the URL to my clippings feed? I think this should be the same for feeddemon and netnewswire…

Is there a folder called “Clippings” in the left pane of NetNewsWire? If so, then just right click the clippings folder. There is an entry called “Clippings Folder Properties”. Check “Share as an RSS feed”. Well, that’s what it’s called in FeedDemon.
