If you have got some spare time over the weekend, go and check this excellent video from a panel discussion on activity streams at MIX 09. Panelists include Monica Keller (MySpace), Luke Shepard (Facebook), John McCrea (Plaxo), Kevin Marks (Google), and Marc “I’m the cheerleader” Canter (Broadband Mechanics); moderated by Microsoft’s Dare Obasanjo. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to embed the video here. Anyway, good stuff!

JanRain has some interesting case studies on OpenID deployment on its website. Of course, you shouldn’t expect unbiased commentary about OpenID there but those statements are interesting nevertheless. Companies mentioned are Mixx, Get Satisfaction, SourceForge, 37 Signals, and more.
An interesting quote from the Property Maps study:
We deployed OpenID in January of this year and saw registrations increase by 200%. Currently about 25% of our registrations occur via OpenID. As more major OpenID providers like MySpace come online, and as consumers become more familiar with OpenID, we expect to see these numbers increase as well. An example of this is when Yahoo’s implementation came online in February, we saw a surge of user registrations.
Allen Stern on Center Networks:
Ancient civilizations used the sun to determine what time it is, Apple fanboys use their iPhone. Me, I use Twitter to tell what time it is! That’s right, with their daily outages from nearly exactly 6-7pm Eastern, if it’s down and the sun is up, it’s 6pm.
