This blog has been down for about 9 hours today. It seems like some PHP5-CGI processes are running amok. Sorry for any inconvenience.

More than one week without new postings on this blog. Have I been lazy? Not interested in blogging anymore? Nope, I just could not write any new postings, nor could I edit any. I always got an Internal Server Error.
However the server was running normal, so most likely WordPress or a plugin was causing problems. Well, I am not really tech savvy and couldn’t figure out the problem until a few minutes ago. I didn’t find any unusual configuration settings so I started deactivating plugins and quickly found the cause of the problem: Bad Behavior, which is an anti-spam plugin I am running for quite some time now. So what went wrong? Basically an old blacklist was still running when the plugin author switched servers. An explanation and a new version of the plugin is available, so the problem should be fixed now. I haven’t updated yet, though.
So what does this mean? Updating plugins more regularly? Stop being dumb?
As you can see in the preceding post my bookmarked articles on Ma.gnolia have been added to the blog and feed; those posts will be published every Sunday, if I bookmarked articles in the previous week. It is a more comfortable way than FeedBurner’s Link Splicer feature, I think.
However looking at the post this still needs some fine tuning. First, tags won’t be shown the next time. Also I’m confused that all last week’s bookmarks are there because I just want bookmarks with certain tags in the post. Something went wrong, I guess. I have to check this again and probably have to get in touch with Ma.gnolia.
Maybe you remember that images in my blog posts were not displayed in Bloglines. That was strange - at least to me - especially when considering that everything seemed to be working fine in Google Reader (and hopefully all other feed readers as well). Though I didn’t find a quick solution to the problem then and somehow forgot about it. However I have come across the answer to the problem today yesterday when trying Feed Validator.
Links to images have been relative URLs (i.e. img src=”/wp-content/uploads/…) in blog posts so far. Some feed readers have problems discovering them then, so all I have to do is to make sure that they are absolute URLs (i.e. img src=”http://www.notsorelevant.com/wp-content/uploads/…). That’s quite easy, however the cause of the problem has been configuration of the ImageManager plugin I use. Fixed that and everything should be fine in Bloglines.
